Mall Santa Makes Boy Cry, Tells Him He Won’t Give Him a Toy Nerf Gun
A young boy burst into tears upon visiting a mall Santa who told the boy he would not be bringing him a nerf gun, a viral video shows.
When the boy, Michael, asked Santa for a nerf gun, the mall Santa asserted that it would be impossible for him to be bring Michael a gun for Christmas, saying “No guns. Not even a Nerf gun. Nope. If your dad wants to give it to you that’s fine, but I can’t bring it to you. What else would you like.”
Michael, who was completely flabbergasted at what Santa just told him, broke down in tears. The mother had to come over and comfort the child while the dismissive Santa did nothing but say “don’t cry” over and over again.
To quickly cover for the mall Santa, the mother wrote in a now-deleted Facebook post with the original video, “I had to think fast and explain to him that this Santa was just a helper and not the real guy. I just wanted to console my baby and get him out of there, flipping out on Santa would have only made it worse.”
In response to the incident, social media users flooded her with requests to buy her son a nerf gun, with the mother giving them a shipping address and accepting all toy gifts so she can pass them out to other kids who are less fortunate.
In an also now-deleted Facebook follow-up post, she stated, “It will be a great lesson for him to learn, too. Some of Michael’s Christmas magic was stolen from him today, so if we can pass some along and make another child’s Christmas brighter, we would love to do it!”
The mall Santa who lectured the boy has resigned from his post, and the Santa Company that hired him wrote “The Santa company will continue to remind all Santa‘s how important it is to not impose personal opinions during visits with the children.” Additionally, the “real” Santa showed up and delivered the boy a nerf gun in a video recorded by the mall.
